PROSPECTUS – FULL INCLUSION MINISTRY PAPER

Prospectus – Full Inclusion Ministry Paper Instructions

1. Brief description:
You will write a 10-15-page paper that synthesizes and applies the core concepts of this course in a real world setting.  This paper fully expounds on the outline submitted earlier in the course.  See directions for outline for required sections.    See rubric and sample paper.

2. Due date:
The paper must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 7.

3. Purpose:
The purpose of the prospectus paper is to improve your research and communication skills, while increasing your knowledge of a specific content area of interest.  In addition, this will provide you with a creative way of synthesizing and applying core course concepts in a way that will deepen your understanding of the topic.
4. Details:
Specifically address a hypothetical child with special needs who is already active in the church’s children’s ministry programming.  You may select a disability that interests you or with which you feel called to work.  The prospectus must include the following (see rubric  and example for more specific directions):

The outline for the prospectus must include 3 or more sentences summarizing your proposed direction for each of the following sections.  Each section should begin with a subtitle – see sample paper for example.
  1. A brief overview of the church
  2. A brief overview of the current children’s ministry
  3. A rationale (scientific) for full inclusion
  4. A rationale (biblical) for full inclusion,
  5. A “mission statement” for a special needs ministry.  Write in BOLD font.
  6. A proposal of the key elements needed for a successful full inclusion program at the church (at minimum include: volunteers, training, adaptive materials, etc.)
  7. A summary of the hypothetical child and a research section detailing in specific subtitled sections: the specific disability,etiology, prevalence, characteristics, prognosis, current research in the field, and  social dynamics of this issue
  8. A section specifically addressing how the church could partner with the family and other service professionals to meet four specific goals, including one spiritual development goal.  See sample papers for format.  Be sure to include the goal, how the church will work on the goal and how it will be measured.
  9. A plan for growth in the area of special needs ministry in the coming year and 5 years down the road (please include 3–5 specific goals that are measurable and can be evaluated)

5. Format:
Title page, abstract page, at least 10 full pages of content, and a reference page need to be included.  The project will be no less than 13 pages when completed.  Additional creative graphics or tables that you find helpful may also be included (in addition to the 13 pages).  This assignment must be formatted in American Psychological Association (APA) 6th ed. format and will have no less than 5 current, professional/scholarly resources in addition to the textbook and Bible.  The list of sources in the references must exactly match the sources cited in the text of the paper.

6. SafeAssign:
The paper is to be posted in the SafeAssign software area located in the Assignments folder Module/Week 7.
NOTE: A SafeAssign draft check area will be provided for you to use to improve your Originality Score, prior to your final submission.

7. Tips:
Make sure that all goals are measurable.  You must note why it is important to the family, how you will work on the goal, and how you will evaluate when the child has successfully completed the goal.
