Survey Analysis

You will be provided with a mock survey/questionnaire to critically analyze. You will be asked to identify the type of “problem” it has, why it is a problem, and propose a “corrected” version of the question.

Here is the mock questions:

Survey Analysis (10%):

Assignment description: You will be provided with a mock survey/questionnaire to analyze critically. You will need to identify the problem with each
question and explain why it is problematic. You will then also need to suggest a way to correct the problem. You will receive one mark for each correctly
identified problem and for an appropriate solution out of a possible 20 marks.
Assignment Directions: For each question in the survey below, you will need to provide 2 components in the space below the question.

1. Explain why the question is problematic.

2. Provide an alternative question.

Survey Assignment

This week, you are asked to pilot a questionnaire that was developed by Dr. Ima Novice and give her feedback on her questions. She is new to survey
research and needs help with her instrument before it goes “live”.

The questions she has proposed for her survey are problematic. Explain why the question is problematic (e.g., it’s a leading question), and explain how
Dr. Novice can fix the question. Full marks will only given if both the reason the question is problematic and alternative are given. This assignment is
worth 10% of your final grade and will be marked out of 20.

Dr. Novice is interested in whether people feel safe in their neighbourhood and what makes them feel safe or unsafe.
