abnormal psychology
Most mental disorders lie on a continuum with "normal" behavior
at one end. For example, nearly everyone has a fear of something,
but it does not rise to the level of a phobia. A behavior may seem
abnormal in one context but completely normal in another context.
These two aspects show why it can be challenging to properly
identify mental disorders.
Using your textbook and the Argosy University online library resources, research the principles and methods of identifying mental disorders. Note particularly the diversity of views and the challenges of identification. Based on your research, write a reflective essay. Use the following question to direct your thoughts and organize your essay:
Why is determining abnormal behavior or a mental disorder so difficult? To develop your essay, keep in mind issues such as the role of social norms in defining the abnormal, the multiplicity of indicators of what is abnormal, the stigma suffered by those identified as abnormal, and finally the need for objectivity in dealing with the concept.

taxonomic classifications
Organisms are placed in taxonomic classifications based on
differences and similarities of their traits. If you know what
critical traits to look for, it is possible to separate any animal
into a taxonomic category using a dichotomous key.
The common taxonomic categories are Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus and Species (Specific Epithet.) We are looking at the Phylum and Class categories in this assignment.
Assignment details:
Part 1: The assignment document contains a table with nine images. The images are examples of nine different Animal phyla: Porifera, Cnidaria, Nematoda, Arthropoda, Platyhelminthes, Annelida, Mollusca, Echinodermata, and Chordata.
Download U5IP_Table. Next, Download Dichotomous Key Use the Dichotomous Key to determine the Class category as shown for each animal (picture), and write the Class names under the Classification Column on the table. List in column 2, all of the dichotomous key steps you chose when using the key to arrive at the classification for each animal.
You will also need to list the Phylum name for each animal picture in column one using the nine Phyla listed above. Once you have identified the Class category for each animal using the Key, look up the correct Phylum category using a credible reference.
For help on how to use the Dichotomous Key, download and review the document called How to Use the Dichotomous Key. Save a copy of the table with your name in the file name. Part 2: Answer the following questions as they relate to the nine phyla in the assignment table. (Porifera, Cnidaria, Nematoda, Athropoda, Platyhelminthes, Annelida, Mollusca, Echinodermata, and Chordata.)
Which phyla lack organs? What type of symmetry do they have? List all of the phyla that show cephalization. Do all organisms on the table have 3 germ layers (endoderm, ectoderm, and mesoderm)? If not, which phyla have fewer than three germ layers? One phylum on the table has more species than all the others. State the name of this phylum, and provide several different examples of species found in this phylum. Fish do not all have the same skeletal structure. Describe the differences among fish skeletal structures from the most primitive to more advanced types of fish. Describe the three types of mammals based on how their young develop. Provide references in APA format. This includes a reference list and in-text citations for references used throughout the assignment.

Topic: The Moral and Ethnic Dilemmas of Legalizing Marijuana
TERM PAPER (13 POINTS) will address a criminal/juvenile justice
management or leadership issue or problem. Your topic must be
pre-approved by the instructor. The paper should be 8 pages in
length or 2,000 words. The paper is to be analytical, with an
emphasis on integrating the readings and outside sources into a
cogent discussion on some relevant issue facing a criminal/juvenile
justice organization. Papers should be formatted according to the
American Psychological Association Manual Writing Guidelines which
are most comprehensively covered in the Publication Manual of the
American Psychological Association 6th. Ed., although condensed and
simplified versions of the APA formatting a referencing
requirements may be found on-line and in other writing manuals. T
in this Term Paper, you will address some ethical topic or dilemma
that relates to the material we read in class, or to your future
professional work. (An “ethical dilemma” is defined as a moral
problem that has at least two apparent resolutions or answers [or
no apparent answer at all], so that no one answer seems obvious.)
In this paper, you should at the very outset (in the very first
“thesis topic” paragraph) explain clearly to the reader what
question you will be trying to answer or what problem you will be
trying to resolve, in the course of your paper. And remember—since
this is an Ethics class, you must argue for what should be the
case, or for how some moral problem or professional dilemma should
be resolved. And to do this successfully, you will need to use
ethical theory; i.e., you will need to demonstrate to the reader
why the ethical principles that you propose are better than any
other principles, for resolving the problem you raise. For this, in
turn, it will help to significantly use the theories that we study
in the beginning of the course. So it will not be good enough to
merely write an empirical paper for this class, that merely
explains what is the case, or how some problem or dilemma just
happens to be approached nowadays. (For example, if you write
against racial profiling, it will not be good enough merely to
document the current situation and then write as if this is
“obviously” unjust; rather, you would need to argue exactly why it
is morally wrong, and also why such-and-such a solution is morally
required or morally preferable Generally speaking, you should spend
no more than the first third of your paper, at the most, merely
reviewing background material. The middle, or meat, of your paper,
should provide an in-depth discussion of the main arguments and
information that are involved in the problem you’re tackling That
is, this middle part should include the work or arguments or “lit
review discussion” that other leading theorists have contributed to
your topic. By the last third of your paper, though, it should be
clear what new arguments you’re contributing. In other words, an
“A” paper will not be one that merely regurgitates what others have
said or merely makes commonsense points; but it will have something
original to say. An “A” paper will also do a good job of using and
explaining important, relevant arguments that others have made. So
you should find at least a few relevant journal articles to
dialogue with. (Your best bet here is to use The Philosopher’s
Index, or some Law source like Hein Online or Westlaw or
LexisNexis, for sources for your journal articles and topics.) On
the one hand, then, I want you to interact with other theorists
that have written on your topic; but on the other hand, an “A”
paper will have something fresh to say, that goes beyond what
others have said

procedures and creating trust in this negotiation case
Negotiation Strategies for Various Situations
Strategies and Tactics Discuss one of the following Discuss
the Five Negotiation Strategies for Various Situations. Think about
a situation in your life or work in which you need to choose a
negotiation strategy. First answer the questions below regarding
the “key elements” of the situation, i.e., time, information, and
power, and then answer the strategy questions which can help you
select a preferred overall strategy to use as you start
negotiating. Is there a deadline that will affect the timing of
your bargaining?
research proposal
Design a research study on the topic of the study selected in
Week One and critiqued in Week Three. Your design should seek to
resolve the limitations you identified in the study you critiqued.
Your paper must address all of the components required in the
“Methods” section of a research proposal: State the research
question and/or hypothesis. Specify the approach (qualitative or
quantitative), research design, sampling strategy, data collection
procedures, and data analysis techniques to be used. If the design
is quantitative, also describe the variables, measures, and
statistical tests you would use. Analyze ethical issues that may
arise and explain how you would handle these issues.
Your Final Paper must be eight to ten pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Utilize a minimum of six peer-reviewed sources that were published within the last 10 years, in addition to the textbook, that are documented in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. The sources should consist of the following: One source should be the article you critiqued in the Week Three assignment. At least two sources should be about the research methodology you have chosen for your study. At least one source should be on ethical issues in research. The remaining sources may be about anything pertinent to your study.
In accordance with APA style, all references listed must be cited in the body of the paper.
Required Sections and Subsections (use these headings in your paper) Introduction – Introduce the research topic, explain why it is important, and present your research question and/or hypothesis. Literature Review – Summarize the current state of knowledge on your topic, making reference to the findings of previous research studies (including the one you critiqued in Week Three). Briefly analyze and critique these studies and mention the research methods that have previously been used to study the topic. State whether your proposed study is a replication of a previous study or a new approach using methods that have not been used before. Be sure to properly cite all of your sources in APA style. Methods Design – Indicate whether your proposed study is qualitative or quantitative in approach. Identify the specific research design, using one of the designs we have studied in Weeks Three through Five, and indicate whether it is experimental or non-experimental. Evaluate your chosen design and explain why you believe this design is appropriate for the topic and how it will provide the information you need to answer the research question. Cite sources on research methodology to support your choices. Participants – Identify and describe the sampling strategy you would use to recruit participants for your study. Estimate the number of participants you would need and explain why your sampling method is appropriate for your research design and approach. Procedure/Measures – Apply the scientific method by describing the steps you would use in carrying out your study. Indicate whether you will use any kind of test, questionnaire, or measurement instrument. If using an existing published instrument, provide a brief description and cite your source. If you are creating a questionnaire, survey, or test, describe the types of information you will gather and explain how you would establish the validity and reliability. If you are not using such an instrument, describe how you would collect the data. Data Analysis – Describe the statistical techniques (if quantitative) or the analysis procedure (if qualitative) you plan to use to analyze the data. Cite at least one source on the chosen analysis technique (from your Week Two assignment). Ethical Issues – Analyze the impact of ethical concerns on your proposed study, such as confidentiality, deception, informed consent, potential harm to participants, conflict of interest, IRB approval, etc. After analyzing the ethical issues that apply to your research proposal, indicate what you would do to handle these concerns. Conclusion – Briefly summarize the major points from your paper and reiterate why your proposed study is needed.

honeybee colonies
In recent years, honeybee colonies have been experiencing
“Colony Collapse Disorder” (CCD). Given the key role of honeybees
in pollinating our agricultural crops, it has become a serious
issue. Many causes for the collapse of honeybee colonies are
currently being investigated. The potential causes include viruses,
parasites, urban sprawl, pesticides, and other environmental
pollutants. Examine the phenomenon of CCD from a toxicological
standpoint by researching three groups of chemicals that are being
investigated as potential contributors to CCD: Antibiotics,
miticides, and neonicotinoid pesticides. The assigned Case Study
for this course deals with the phenomena of “Colony Collapse
Disorder” in honeybee populations, and should include the following
components: A brief introduction of the phenomenon. Background
information on the groups of chemicals pertinent to the Case Study.
Analysis of the key potential causes of the phenomena. Summary
of the article's conclusions and your own opinions on the potential
causes for the phenomena. Write a 4-5 page analysis (double spaced,
12 pt. type) of the potential causes listed above, and then discuss
your opinion regarding which, if any, is the most likely cause. If
you do not believe any of these chemicals are contributing to CCD,
provide a brief discussion about what you believe to be the cause.
Information resources can be gathered from the journals and
articles available in our CSU Library Databases. Be sure to provide
both in-text references as well as the full citations in APA format
at the end of your analysis. Include a cover page and brief
abstract for your analysis (these pages are not to be included in
the total 4-5 page requirement). The Case Study assignment must
follow APA style guidelines, therefore the APA rules for
formatting, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and listing of sources
are to be followed.

Labor Law
Imagine you are a recently-hired chief operating officer in a
midsize company preparing for an initial public offering. You quickly
discover multiple problems that require your immediate attention.
New Century Health Clinic
New Century Health Clinic offers preventive medicine and
traditional medical care. In your role as an IT consultant, you
will help New Century develop a new information system. Background
You implemented the new system at New Century Health Clinic
successfully, and the staff has used the system for nearly four
months. New Century is pleased with the improvements in efficiency,
office productivity, and patient satisfaction. Some problems have
surfaced, however. The office staff members call you almost daily
to request assistance and suggest changes in certain reports and
forms. You try to be helpful, but now you are busy with a major
project for a local distributor of exercise equipment. Actually,
your contract with New Century required you to provide support only
during the first three months of operation. Anita Davenport, New
Century’s office manager, reported that the system seems to slow
down at certain times during the day, making it difficult for the
staff to keep up with its workload. Also, you increasingly are
concerned about system security. A recent article in the local
newspaper described an incident where a disgruntled former employee
was about to break into the computer system and destroy or alter
data. Assignments 1. You are willing to charge a lower rate for
ongoing support services because you designed the system. You want
New Century to use a specific procedure for requesting assistance
and changes, however, so that you can plan your activities
efficiently. Prepare a complete, written procedure for New Century
Health Clinic maintenance change requests. Include appropriate
forms with your procedure. 2. What could be causing the periodic
slowdowns at New Century? If a problem does exist, which
performance and workload measures would you monitor to pinpoint the
problem? 3. At the end of the systems analysis phase, you studied
the economic feasibility of the system and estimated the future
costs and benefits. Now that the system is operational, should
those costs and benefits be monitored? Why or why not? 4. You
decide to prepare a security checklist for New Century. Prepare a
list of security issues that the firm should evaluate and monitor.
Be sure to organize the items into categories that match the six
security levels.
