Write a minimum of TWO (2) pages for each question with a minimum of three (3) references of each question.
- Submit a written analysis that includes the following:
- A
description of the mathematical task you selected. Provide a rationale
of how this task has the potential to engage students in higher-level
thinking (higher cognitive demand). Justify your comments with specific
references to the Learning Resources.
- An explanation of how one or more of the Standards for Mathematical Practice could
be fostered using this mathematical task. Include question prompts you
might use (before, during, and after the lesson) to encourage
development of the targeted mathematical practice(s).
- Any
additional adjustments that you could make to the task to increase its
effectiveness in developing students’ mathematical habits.
- Submit a written response that addresses the following:
- Explain
how the teacher does (or does not) incorporate the five practices in
the lesson. Provide evidence to support your explanation.
- Provide two or more examples of how the teacher uses the practices to extend student thinking and mathematical understanding.
- Explain
what could have been done to further incorporate the practices during
the lesson and what the teacher might do after the lesson.
- Explain the insights you gained that may inform your own teaching of mathematics.
