Linkages between activities in a value chain

Linkages between activities in a value chain are important to identify because
  1. They highlight potential areas of competitive advantage for a company.
  2. They may indicate duplication of effort that needs to be eliminated.
  3. They should be removed to ensure that cross-subsidization of costs does not occur.
  4. They indicate areas where a company may need to control activity costs.
