Consumer Choice and Demand
Speculate on how the time cost demands of health care (and other
reasons) may have contributed to the lower observed demand for health
care in the western United States. Provide specific examples to support
your rationale.

Efficient production and logistics methods
Efficient production and logistics methods can improve competitive
position and enhance customer service. What to buy, where to produce,
and how to manage a global manufacturing system, are all key factors.
ECCO's management team seeks to maximize value while lowering costs a
difficult balance to maintain. In this week's Application you will be
examining the extent to which they do this effectively.
Turn your attention to the production and logistics methods used by ECCO. In analyzing the company's global supply chain, consider how well the supply chain configuration matches with the company's products in order to determine where efficiencies could be introduced.
First, describe the strategy used by the company to produce and deliver its shoes. Then, list the unique factors of both the product and the market demand and determine whether they are satisfied by this strategy. In what ways could the strategy be modified in order to increase the corporate profit or reduce the price to the consumer? Also, given what you know about the trends in global supply chains, consider the reasons why ECCO may have chosen to locate its production and distribution facilities in their current locations, and then make a recommendation on how and why their strategy should change over the next three to five years.

National dental insurance benefits for all U.S citizens
The government provides national dental insurance benefits for all U.S.
citizens that cover 100% of the cost of all dental services. There are
two effects of this policy. First, there will be an increase in the
number of consumers of dental services. Second, there will be fewer
dentists willing to provide dental services, resulting in some dentists
removing themselves from the market entirely.
Fixed factors of production
Capital is often used as a fixed factor of production. Many
manufacturing firms cannot operate without a building and equipment.
This can also be said about skilled labor. Skilled labor is also a fixed
factor of production. For example, what would a hospital do without
skilled labor? In the past, there have been several times in which there
was a shortage in nurses. If you were in charge of a hospital, what
would you do to recruit skilled nurses? How would this affect the
shortage of skilled nurses in the long run?
What is diversity awareness
What does diversity awareness mean to you? How does someone demonstrate a
high level of awareness in your career field? Why do you think it is so
critical for employees in your future profession?
